Faith loves before it feels. Faith is not an emotion.
Victoria Osteen
We are an emotional people. It is an easy practice to relate our faith to our feelings. Feeling are fluid and they are reactionary. As situations and circumstances change, our feelings change. Feelings can inflate our outlook and can send us into the deepest, darkest pit we have ever experienced. We cannot rely on our feelings and let them guide our outlook regarding our faith. God wants us to be faithful and obedient regardless of our feelings. Faith loves because it is the nucleus of who God is.
Faith is unwavering. When we operate through sight, we allow our thoughts to determine our outcome. We allow life’s events and circumstances to regulate our actions. This type of faith is reactionary and given life through fear.
When we walk blindly by faith, we allow the Word of God to lead us. The basis of the Word of God is love. Faith is trusting in what cannot be seen. Faith is recognizing God’s love for His children, and through this recognization separating our feelings and emotions from the might of God’s love for us.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
The foundation of faith is God’s grace in Christ, which is the experience of God’s love. Faith is choosing to believe the Word of God as our core. Faith is our confidence in God’s love. Faith loves before it feels.
