God’s Promises – I will forgive your sins. I will give you joy (in your heart). I will give your freedom.
The Power of Forgiveness is Joy. Last night during my sleep, Satan was at work. I dreamed that Psalm 32 was false. Satan was attempting to trick me to believe that Psalm 32 was not of God. He does not want us to truly forgive, because there is freedom in forgiveness. If you hold on to past hurts, you have not forgiven and are bound by forgiveness. You reside in sin. Satan did not want me to share this message. You cannot imagine the difficulty in posting it. He does not want us to be free.
Well, Psalm 32 is entitled, The Joy of Forgiveness. David wrote this confession after sinning with Bathsheba. While many of us have not committed adultery, collusion, or murder, as David did but, we have sinned. If God could forgive David, He can certainly forgive us. There is nothing so horrible or despicable that God turns His head when we cry out.
Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight!
2 Yes, what joy for those
whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt,
whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
3 When I refused to confess my sin,
my body wasted away,
and I groaned all day long.
4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.
My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude
5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
Psalm 32, NIV
Forgiveness goes beyond asking for forgiveness of sins we have committed, we must also ask for forgiveness when we cannot forgive those who have sinned against us. When someone close sinned, and their sin affected us, we must forgive them. God cannot forgive us if we fail to forgive others. It is through this brokenness that God can forgive us.
“When we find ourselves discouraged because we have repeated a certain sin, turn to God in prayer. Ask Him to apply His forgiveness to your life and receive His mercy. He loves you and wants to enjoy your fellowship once again.
Confession clears our hearts spiritually and makes it possible for us once more to experience deep fellowship with God. Unconfessed sin makes us weak, discouraged, and ultimately miserable.”
The hope of those who are right with God is joy, but the hope of the sinful comes to nothing. Proverbs 10:28, NLV
Enjoy the Joy of the Lord. Confess your sins and experience His freedom.
